Parking Lots
Unless you have parking karma and can find a space on the street at any time, any place, you probably want to know where to put your vehicle while visiting Union Street.

Lots can be found on Union at Laguna as well as on Union at Buchanan.

Municipal Railway, Muni for short, has several lines that go directly down Union Street. Phone Muni for directions at (415) 673-6864. Curiously, Muni does not use the word "bus" when discussing their transportation system. They prefer to use the word "coach."

The coach or bus fare in San Francisco is $1. Children under five ride free. Kids aged six through 17, seniors and disabled people pay 35 cents. Exact fare is necessary because drivers carry no change. One day, three day, seven day, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly passes are available at different locations. Cable Cars cost $2 and their drivers carry change. Call the Visitors Information Center for more information at (415) 391-2000.

A transfer is good for two more rides within 90 minutes in any direction, even on the same bus. Riders must ask for a transfer at the time of boarding if they intend to ride more than one coach or bus, electric trolley, street car or LRV¹s (Light Rail Vehicle). Transfers are not valid on Cable Cars. If you take a ferry you can get a transfer to Muni and from Muni. If you take BART you can ask for a transfer in the BART station to Muni and from Muni, but it costs $1.

Historic vintage electric trolleys donated from all over the world run on most holidays. The F Line with its vintage PCC (Presidential Conference Car) vehicles run every day from Castro to Fisherman's Wharf.

The numbered routes below will not change but their times of beginning and ending may. Contact Muni for up to the minute information.
